In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
17 Sustainable Development Goals underpin the agenda. Those goals have become our guide.
In 2021 we made significant contributions in priority areas SDG 3, 12, 13 and 17. And through local engagement with the communities where we operate, we had a positive impact to some extent across all 17 goals.
Priority Goal 3 – Good health and wellbeing
Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all, at all ages.
In 2021 we continued our industry-leading record in personal safety. It covers our contractors as well as employees.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we took care of our employees by providing best practice hybrid work solutions, as well as workplace measures that maximised their ability to stay safe.
Priority Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and production
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Sustainability criteria were integrated into our new product development process in 2021, so 100% of our products can be assessed against sustainability in the future.
We have conducted sustainability assessments on 62% of our procurement spend.
Priority Goal 13 – Climate action
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.
We have reduced our operational carbon emissions per metric ton of product by 8.5% since 2018.
Priority Goal 17 – Partnerships
Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development.

End poverty in all its forms everywhere.

In 2021 we continued to provide skills and opportunities, especially for young people.
